Welcome to the Hartford Sound Alliance blog! The Hartford Sound Alliance is a CT-based group, dedicated to the creation, performance and promotion of new music via composition, improvisation and sound installation, as well as intermedia and interdisciplinary projects. Cycling 74 just put out a new program called "Cyclops" that works with MAX & Jitter. I've been experimenting with a demo version that I downloaded.
It allows for you to use live video feed as information to manipulate audio signals. We could potentially have visual artists sketching on a paper being tracked with a video camera, and have it manipulate sound (i.e. - shape filters, trigger sounds, etc.).
oh, cool! that's awesome! we should definitely investigate that, especially if we could somehow fit the paper with some contact mics or something to better integrate the act of drawing into a sonic realm. yeah, super cool.
possibility of a further collaboration with full force dance theater on this project, talked to katie stevenison-nollet, the artistic director of the group. we'll pursue this further...
